Armada Power Load Control Designed With Customer in Mind

NRTC and Armada Power, a Columbus, OH, smart technology developer, have reached a partnerhsip agreement to offer Armada’s water heater management and thermal storage solutions to NRTC members. After its evaluation of the product, NRTC is impressed by Armada technology that puts home consumers first. The system’s demand response capabilities also save money. Armada estimates households can save $80 to $183 annually.

Armada Power’s approach is to connect multiple water heaters with the company’s Optimizer devices (pictured) and aggregate the data from each water heater into a larger demand-management system. The system operates on the Armada Power’s FleetCommander software platform. Armada configures the system for various scenarios, including for multiple households in cooperation and direct sales to individuals.

Working with electric cooperatives, the water heater control system can integrate with other demand response applications. Installation requires an electrician or co-op technician and is usually done in 15 to 20 minutes. Armada also is working on a smart phone interface for release later this year.
