There’s Strength in Numbers
NRTC serves more than 1,500 rural utilities across the United States. Broadly, these members fit into two categories. Electric cooperatives, both consumer-owned distribution cooperatives, and generation and transmission (G&T) cooperatives. We also serve rural telecommunications companies, both independently owned entities and telecommunications cooperatives.
NRTC serves a diverse community of electric cooperatives throughout the nation. We serve distribution cooperatives, which provide power to end consumers, and generation and distribution cooperatives, which provide wholesale power to those co-ops.
There is a saying in our industry: if you’ve met one co-op, you’ve met one co-op. Each co-op is unique with its own geography, climate, needs and challenges to overcome. We work with each co-op, one-on-one, to determine exactly how we can help. That might be through advanced metering infrastructure, demand response, alternative energy distribution or even broadband deployments.
We represent the advanced technology and back-office support needs for a wide range of telecommunications utilities across the country–from member-owned telephone cooperatives, to small privately held telephone companies. We also provide services to a range of tribal telecommunications authorities and municipal governments.
These entities have provided vital telecommunications services to the communities that need it most for nearly a century. It has been NRTC’s honor to meet the advanced technology needs of these storied utilities—now and throughout the changing landscape of the rural telecommunications industry.
